The Chief of KPK Gave Public Lecture at UIN Alauddin

UIN Online – The chief of Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), Dr. Abraham Samad, SH., MH., said that there should be anti-corruption course at UIN Alauddin, this was due to the corrupt youth, like cheating in exams and so forth. It was delivered in the public lecture at UIN Alauddin Makassar, February 24, 2014.

Rector of UIN Alauddin Makassar, Prof. Dr. HA Qadir Gassing HT, Ms., expected that presumably there was a student of UIN Alauddin became like Abraham Samad. It was stated in the public lecture which was attended by about 1000 students and lecturers of UIN Alauddin.

Furthermore, Abraham in his public lecture on the theme "Building the Supreme Law in Indonesia" described the corruption condition in Indonesia in 2011, Indonesian CPI was 3.0 (rank 100 of 183 countries). In 2012, Indonesian CPI was up to 3.2 (but in 2010, the Indonesian CPI was 2.8 (rank 110 of 178 countries). The rank was 118 from 182 countries – Timor Leste was still better (3.3). In 2013, Indonesian CPI was unchanged at 32 (but its rank became 114 of 177 countries). The corruption had the impact to the unemployment, foreign debt, massive environmental destruction and poverty, he firmly stated it.

More clearly, he described the condition of Indonesia today as follows:

• NUMBER OF POVERTY: The Amount of Poverty (March 2012) amounted to 29.13 million people (11.96 %) in March 2013 (28.07 million people or 11.37 %), but in September 2013, it increased 480 thousand Indonesian, so it achieved 28.55 million people.

• UNEMPLOYMENT: August 2012, it was 6.14 percent, or 7.24 million people. February 2013, it was 5.92 percent or 7.17 million people, unemployment increased in August 2013 amounted to 6.25 percent or 7.39 million people.

• FOREIGN DEBT: The Indonesian Government Debt in October 2013 was 2.276,89 trillion Rupiahs. 658,37 trillion was the loan, and 1.618,53 trillion was bond.

• NATURAL DAMAGE: There were 3.8 million hectares of forest in Indonesia chopped and exploited illegally.
