Nursing Student Participated in Emergency Training in Banjarmasin

UIN Online – Saldi Yusuf, the student of Nursing Department of Health Sciences Faculty (FIK) of Alauddin State Islamic University (UIN Alauddin) participated in emergency training in Banjarmasin, Monday - Thursday (02/27-28/2014).

The activity organized by the university, the Health Sciences College (STIKES) of Mulia Sari Banjarmasin of South Kalimantan, was conducted under the theme 'With Science, Skills, and Sense of Empathy, Let's Create National Emergency Team of Nursing Students of Indonesia in 2014', and was followed by several students who belonged to the Indonesian Nursing Student Institution Association (ILMIKI).

The training lasted for three days presented the speakers, nurses (Nurse) of Emergency Specialist, Emergency and Disaster expert from Disaster Reduction Board Member of WHO (World Health Organization), and from the Center for Crisis of Health Ministry of Indonesia Republic.

After that, this activity was continued by the declaration of ILMIKI National Health Team with the name BPBN ILMIKI (National Disaster Management Agency of Indonesian Nursing Student Institute Association) and included Saldi Yusuf as the General Director of ILMIKI from UIN Alauddin Makassar, as well as several other universities that were also declared.

Saldi Yusuf, the student of Nursing Department, stated that emergency condition can occur anytime and anywhere. Many death cases in the community can be avoided if we have a sense of caring for one another.

"A student entrusted as qualified and intellectual student, can think critically, and realistic has a responsibility to anticipate the unwanted occurrences and create better conditions'' he said.

Saldi further expected that nursing students throughout Indonesia could contribute actively in the society, especially in the field of Disaster Mitigation and Preparedness, as well as upgrading and increasing their knowledge and skills in the field of Emergency Nursing, and UIN Alauddin can be one of the science developers in the Emergency and Disaster Management as well.

The students who had served as the chief of Department Student Association (HMJ) expressed his gratitude to the God, and thanked to the leaders of UIN Alauddin who had helped him, especially to Vice Rector of Student Affairs, Dr. H. Natsir Siola MA, the Head of Administration, Academic, Student Affairs, and Cooperation (AAKK), Dra. Hj. Nuraini Gani, MM., and Drs. Alwan Subhan, MM., who had helped the delegation to represent UIN Alauddin.
